Canadian crabs with bad attitude threaten coastal Maine ecosystem

Canadian crabs with bad attitude threaten coastal Maine ecosystemCanadians are known as friendly folks, but these crabby brutes migrating from Canadian waters to coastal Maine are better suited for the hockey rink. Green crabs from Nova Scotia are the same species as their cousins that already inhabit Maine waters, but are ornerier and angrier, threatening to accelerate harm to the coastal ecosystem by gobbling up soft-shell clams and destroying native eel grass, a researcher said. The docile green crabs shrink from a threat, while the newcomers are more apt to wave their pincers and charge.

In the news today, Sept. 19

In the news today, Sept. 19Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland is back in Washington — and back in search of a way to bridge the divide that's keeping Canada out of a new North American free trade pact. Freeland flew back to the U.S. capital Tuesday as a prominent congressional ally of President Donald Trump made it clear that American lawmakers are growing weary of what they see as Canadian intransigence. Meanwhile, lawyers for those opposed to the stay say the Ontario government is responsible for the upheaval and shouldn't seek legal relief for problems it has caused.

Uncertainty over Saskatchewan family's reunion with long-lost dog

Uncertainty over Saskatchewan family's reunion with long-lost dogA family in Moose Jaw, Sask., went from joy to uncertainty Tuesday night, after they were reunited with a pet dog that went missing more than a year ago — then had that reunion cast in doubt. Brennen Duncan says the last time his family saw Georgia was back in July 2017, when the big white Kuvasz bolted during a visit to his wife's parents' farm near St. Walburg. Duncan says the dog ran out of the house during a bad thunderstorm.

Creation of leaders' debate commissioner possible before next election: Gould

Creation of leaders' debate commissioner possible before next election: GouldThe Trudeau government has offered a glimpse of its vision for a new independent body to organize leaders' debates during federal elections, which it believes could be in place by next year's vote. Democratic Institutions Minister Karina Gould offered the teaser this week in a letter to a House of Commons committee, which called in March for the creation of a debates commissioner. The commission or commissioner should also ensure that "the decision they take reflects diversity in Canada," the minister wrote, while working to ensure debates are as accessible as possible.

Top Ontario court to rule on whether to grant stay in Toronto council-cutting case

Top Ontario court to rule on whether to grant stay in Toronto council-cutting caseOntario's highest court is expected to announce today whether it will stay a court ruling that upended the province's plan to cut Toronto city council in the middle of a municipal election campaign. Meanwhile, lawyers for those opposed to the stay say the Ontario government is responsible for the upheaval and shouldn't seek legal relief for problems it has caused. An Ontario judge last week found that Bill 5, which reduced Toronto city council to 25 seats from 47, violated freedom of expression rights for candidates and voters.

What are your business needs?

Exposure is an essential element of a successful business. Customer need to know who you are, what you offer, and how to contact you. What better opportunity is there for exposure or promotion than the Internet? The Internet offers full color, 24/7 availability, low costs, and millions of users! Should the Internet be your only source of advertising? Of course not, people still read the newspaper, grab the phone book, listen to the radio and watch television. But the growth of Internet users cannot be ignored. Every successful business should have a web presence to maximize their exposure.

The simple fact is that the more links, which lead to your site from other websites, the more success your site will have. 85% of all users use the top search engines to locate their desired information. All top search engines view each link from another site, which connects to your site, as a vote in it's popularity when ranking your website in search results. Also, the more popular the sites which link to your website are, the more influential their vote counts towards your site as well. The top search engines now give this single factor top importance in determining a site's rank in search results. In fact some will not even list your site until it is linked from another site. The word or words in the text of text links which lead to each site, the size & boldness, and the location on the page where the links are located (i.e. top or bottom) all have varying degrees of influence on both how sites are ranked by the search engines when someone does a search for specific keywords and the direct amount of qualified prospects they produce. Purchasing fixed banner & text link advertising on our sites will increase your brand's visibility, help your site's ranking in the top search engines, increase it's targeted visitor traffic, and improve your sales revenues.

Community Plus ranks top ten at Google, Yahoo and basically all search engines.
